Joe got 2 weeks of vacation in a row and we were deciding were to go, when talking with his dad Joe decided we better get back to visit this year before it might be to late.. So we were going to fly and after looking into that it was a definate NO. So, we thought it might be fun to drive cross country and see some sights on the way to Ohio. As we looked into what was on the way Nauvoo came up. Even though it was about 4 1/2 hours off the path we decided to take the time to do it and I have to say it was well worth it... It was such a neat and emotional experience to be there in the place Joseph Smith once was and how much he sacraficed to live what he believed. We didn't have a lot of time so we drove around looked at were he lived and where he is buried and then left to do the jail tour were he died. It is the town of Carthige which is about 20 minutes from Nauvoo.
